Excavate: The Wonderful & Frightening World of The Fall

Faber Social announce acquisition of Excavate: The Wonderful and Frightening World of The Fall, edited by Tessa Norton and Bob Stanley, for publication in March 2021. Over the course of their forty-year career, which ended abruptly forever on 24 January 2018, The Fall were consistently one of the most fascinating and unique groups Britain has ever produced, and frontman Mark E Smith was arguably the country’s sharpest lyricist. This will be the definitive book on The Fall’s world. Excavate: The Wonderful and Frightening World of The Fall will be a compendium of new essays, shorter reflections, original artwork, lyrics and previously unpublished ephemera working around the subject of “the world of The Fall”, rather than a biography of the group itself. It will illuminate the various corners of The Fall’s world, their reference points, lyrical concerns, their influences and, as a whole, it will demonstrate why their worldview offers something so important to British culture. Illustrated with maps, timelines and graphics Excavate will act as a guide to help you navigate Mark E Smith’s idiosyncratic world. Contributors confirmed include Adelle Stripe, Stewart Lee, Elain Harwood, Dan Fox, Mark Sinker, Sian Pattenden, Sukhdev Sandhu and, of course, Tessa Norton and Bob Stanley.
