Inspiration for this object was the expressionist silent movie „The cabinet of Dr. Caligari“ by Robert Wiene from 1920. In the movie a somnambulist is moved to comit murders while sleepwalking in the night. The moon depicts the starting point of a game between death and life. Therefore, I created a „moon“ by cutting and reassemble a space blanket. The pieces are joined together in a chequered pattern, that refers to this game. The question is: Can a space blanket, that is meant to safe lifes, still do its job, when its surface is cut and reassembled? Moreover, I tried to depict the moon in the elegant and atmospheric way it is, but in the same time as something that can cause a feeling of apprehension.
