The surge of interest in our relationship with the natural world proves through its omnipresence that it is more than a short-lived trend. Our engagement with nature has altered significantly in recent years, influenced by digitization, urbanism and ecological awareness. Now, we find ourselves looking for new ways to connect with our natural environment. The exhibition “The Best Bogus Botanical Garden” then aims to highlight how artists are exploring this changing relationship by simulating the very nature we have become disconnected from. The show looks at art practices that seem to recreate nature, either by manipulating organic materials, or inventing their own. To further enhance the illusion of the simulacra, the exhibition will take the form of an immersive environment, literally transforming the gallery space into an artificial botanical garden.
