Exploring the stars with Bronx Girls Skate

Nayf and Wavey is a one-woman operation featuring hand-crafted, cutting-edge, unisex streetwear clothing that's built to last. Nayf and Wavey is derived from skateboarding culture, creating pieces that are functional and one-of-a-kind.  In this latest editorial, Nayf and Wavey showcases the latest mini collection through the lens of Bronx Girls Skate; a non-profit organization that empowers young women through skateboarding, by featuring founders Kava and Mel, as the muse and models of this shoot. This editorial captures Mel and Kava in a series of dynamic portraits that showcase their unique style and attitude. Given the raw energy and creativity of the two models' interaction on this futuristic astronaut theme, this editorial captured film portraits in medium format. It also showcases the beautiful craftsmanship, texture, and materials from the Nayf and Wavey mini collection. Raw denim faces its bleached self through asymmetrical paneling, complete with edgy detailings of zipper teeth binding, animal-print linings, and floral-stitched motifs on the pockets. Every piece is unique and hand-crafted with the function of skateboarders in mind.  This editorial also showcases textural 'kitchen-sink' style bucket hats from Daizy label and chain jewellery by Rephormairy. Daizy label is the fusion of fashion, skateboarding, and yarn in one hand-made piece. Taking a modern streetwear approach to crochet, Daizy strikes the perfect balance of function and the familiar. Both hats are made of various yarns, including natural, striped, and indigo-dyed fibers that play perfectly off Nayf & Wavey's denim pieces. The pieces are worn inside out, with frayed edges and tails loose capturing the brand's inspiration from skateboarding's DIY attitude. Rephormairy, also known as PHORM, a brand focused on self-expression and chains. Mixing new with vintage sourced pieces, crystals and more to create looks for the unique individual. The combination of Nayf and Wavey's forefront streetwear designs, Daizy labels fresh take on accessories, PHORM’s chain pieces, and the inspiring aura of Mel and Kava make for a unique take on the idea of reinvention- through textiles, through skateboarding, and through one's community.
