This collection focuses on highlighting equality in today’s society.
I wanted to do this through embodying elements of tarot cards, to empower and celebrate, feminism. I wanted to explore the individual roles that a tarot card can play on a women’s identity and the story that this can create. I wanted to present tarot cards in a positive way and have incorporated a variety of historical tarot card motifs into my designs. This has resulted in a collection, which is deeply personal and full of spiritual meaning.
This collection was built from a body of work by inspirational activists such as: the poet Rupi Kaur, Cleo wade and tarot card illustrator Kim Krans. Each are known for speaking out for women, expressing love, strength and power. There are so many beautiful elements within each of their works, which inspired myself to create my own imagery as well as use their empowering words with in my designs.
A rich, luxurious colour palette was chosen to celebrate the symbolism of feminism and the empowerment of the modern woman. The focus of this collection is cad embroidery and sheer fabrics to highlight and replicate the delicate aspects of feminism.
