'FAMILY OF MAN'

  • Ashleigh Jane Sanderson

For one of my first year modules we were following in the Footsteps of Edward Steichens Family of Man exhibition from 1955, I took this concept and created my own twist into it, scouting people in the street purely based on who interested me and I was instantly drawn to, in venues, capturing animals, plants, scenes, objects, things which for me create the family of man on this planet. Our family of man to me is more than just people, it's everything we see, opinions, own, pass by, take interest in, which creates family. What catches my eye. The different styles I like and diversity within the people of man, and the world around us. My love for detail, everything around us. I wanted to capture the families we create and make through fashion, through music, the street and man. Documenting why we all relate to each other. Connections I made. To observe and notice. All images were purposely taken on black and white Kentmere film and printed onto Ilford photgraphic light sensitive paper afterwards. With the exception of the coloured images been taken digitally. The images are completely untouched, unedited and straight from the roll of film a they were taken by me.
