By closely collaborating with the Route Level Crossing Manager and Public Affairs Manager, I created visual representations of the proposed scheme to replace pedestrian level crossings with accessible bridges. Despite facing tight timelines and interruptions, I accurately recreated the structures and surroundings. The resulting film played a crucial role in gaining public approval. The assignment required me to create day and night scenes for both crossings within a five-week deadline before the public consultation. To begin the project, our engineering partners provided me with 3D models. I then simplified the structures geometry and added lighting and realistic decking, which were not included in the original 3D models. Additionally, I had to account for a change in the bridge configuration near Spencer Close that had not been updated in the initial 3D model. To accurately recreate Farnborough North Station and the Spencer Close area, I meticulously studied images and utilised Google Street View. I also traced satellite imagery to ensure the scenes were roughly to scale. Given the importance of the surrounding area in influencing the decision-making process for the scheme, I paid great attention to detail. I replicated all the signs in the station area and those belonging to nearby businesses. Furthermore, I created five individual video files to simulate the passenger information display screens. I also made sure to incorporate distinct features of each property captured in the film. For this project, I designed a Class 166 Networker Turbo DMU in GWR livery, specifically tailored to the initiative. Additionally, I utilised a model I had previously created for another project to represent the SWR class 701 Arterio EMU. I trust that the film effectively conveys Network Rail's proposals and it was well-received by the local community and stakeholders. https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/our-routes/wessex/farnborough-north-and-hatches-level-crossing-upgrade
