FATA 'STAGRAMA

  • Krystiana Kozak
Fata Morgana, a mirage, an optical illusion caused by atmospheric conditions, especially the appearance of a sheet of water in a desert or on a hot road caused by the refraction of light from the sky by heated air. Also used as a way of describing something that we want to see where it doesn't exist.
As an art theorist I struggled to think about visual content I produce that would suit to be shown in a project. I may work with images yet it is the words that are the medium of my self expression on a daily basis. The long essays I have produced require some time to be read while an image can catch your attention almost constantly. With the growth of social media and its take over on our lives the focus shifts to content that's easy to digest and appreciate.
FATA 'STAGRAMA relates to the idea of social media and the way we edit our lives into a completely new reality. In choosing the best shot and filtering the image we create a new content of mirage of our existence that represents the best angle concealing the real.
As a project it can vary in its capacity and volume depending on the true events that take place. From the curatorial perspective it may change and adapt to the space it is viewed in. This allows us all to be the curators of our lives and attract the audience we need. Below are carefully selected shots of my personally created mirage.
