Cancer sucks. What’s worse?
The cancer curing treatments make you feel like rubbish and can leave you with lots of side effects, like infertility. The upside is that survival rates are getting better: the downside is that in a few years, when you’re back to yourself and you want to have babies, you might not be able to.
Dr Natalie and her team set up a way in which young girls and women who are diagnosed with cancer can still protect their ability to have kids. Even better, that this would be done on the NHS! This was the first fully funded programme in the UK for patients who needed immediate cancer treatment or were too young to freeze their eggs.
