Flowers and Dirt

  • Christos Patelis

The series Flowers and Dirt is an ongoing project which explores anxious thoughts and distorted imagination through the use of constructed studio still life photography. My compositions relate to my mental health experiences including unpleasant thinking and fear of negative outcomes. With the help of psychoanalytic therapy, I have discovered the causes for intrusive thoughts, anxiety and destructive states of mind, which I aim to capture in the series. Flowers and Dirt illustrates how a seemingly perfect situation conceals a traumatic aspect.
