I co-produced and directed a short documentary that explored Food Banks in the UK. With my co-producer, we worked with Brixton and Peckham food banks, filming at their sessions and interviewing the food clients. The sensitive subject matter and vulnerability of the interviewees required warm, patient and honest interpersonal skills. To broaden the depth of discussion in our film, we then went on to interview a Labour MP, Helen Hayes and Social Editor of The Guardian, Patrick Butler. We also curated a fund-raising evening for the food banks, hosting a night of comedy, managing to persuade the participation on comedians such as Jessica Fostekew and Iain Smith. We went on to raise £1000 for the cause. I loved bringing together different talented individuals to create a project I am truly passionate about.
