The building is the home and studio of renowned designer Ross Lovegrove. Both the apartment and the studio are replete with wonderful experimental and bespoke details, displaying a catalogue of the owner’s industrial and architectural design work.
The impressive studio space is entered through glazed double doors from Powis Mews and occupies the ground and lower ground floors. The lower ground has fantastic volume, light filtering through a toughened glass floor a level above. There is also access to a garage space on the mews side.
Entrance from Powis Terrace is via a dramatic corridor space that passes beneath the properties that front the street. At the far end, past a row of uniquely designed storage cupboards, a concrete staircase rises to the first floor living accommodation. There are three bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, and a family bathroom arranged around a large central living area.
The top floor is occupied by a vast reception room, almost 40 ft in length, with a striking pitched ceiling that is punctured with skylights. At one end is the galley kitchen, and at the other, a large south-facing terrace that looks out over the mews.

Powis Mews has been linked with an interesting community of artists over the years, and is famously the site of David Hockney’s first studio. Excellently located amongst the quiet streets of Notting Hill, a short walk from Portobello Road. The shops, restaurants and cafes of Westbourne Grove are equally close at hand. Notting Hill Gate (Central Line), Westbourne Park (Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines) and Ladbroke Grove (Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines) are the nearest underground stations. The Westway provides an easy route out of the city by road, for swift access to Heathrow Airport and the south west.
