Forgotten Soldiers

My project revolves around the Forgotten Soldiers that had to fight for Britain under the British Empire. The erasure of Black British history is what has fuelled this project – along with exploring Grime culture and how it has influenced youth culture in Britain today. The mixing of the two themes has differentiated my collection, innovating my inspiration for military/army wear. My research has led me to explore the different phases in Grime culture, the street-style of the early days of Grime along with the combination of the new era of urban music that has brought black artists to the mainstream today. Design activism is the approach I take as a designer using my work to spread social awareness.
