I was kindly asked to do the front cover illustration for issue no. 15/2020 for the publication Tidsskriftet for The Norwegian Medical Association. The publication is read by around 30 000 doctors, nurses and others working in the Norwegian medical fields. My illustration is made to fit the theme of an article inside the publication, about scabies. The illness is becoming a public health problem because people are afraid to tell people around them that the have got it - mainly because the unnecessary shame linked to the illness. It is often associated with intimate contact. However, many do not know that anyone can get scabies - anywhere. There are regular outbreaks in kindergartens, as well as homes for elders and young friend groups. I wanted to illustrate this by using fruit, to bring focus the skin, the shame, and the diversity of people who may get the illness. And how itchy and unmanageable the illness can feel. The illustration is made with coloured pencils, to make it feel close to the skin and intimate. Thank you to their art director for a great collaboration!
