The Parliamentary Internet, Communications and Technology Forum (Pictfor) is the All-Party Parliamentary Group in the Houses of Parliament for the technology sector. The Group’s purpose is to further understanding of policy issues affecting the Internet, Communications and Technology sector between parliamentarians, the industry, consumer groups and academia.

The Problem

When PICTFOR approached ORCA, they were full aware that their generic logo and the dated website didn’t truly reflect the image of a modern technology forum. The designs weren’t appealing for the younger and more diverse audience that PICTFOR were trying to attract to secure the future sucess of the forum. They needed a new look & feel that was more modern, clean and trendy.

Research & Exploration

The main challenge was to create a logo that worked well with the mandatory accompanying appg emblem, while standed out from other forums in parliament and beyond. To do so, we underwent extensive research into the tech sector and other similar groups, as well as new, trendy communication brands, to be able to build a comprehensive understanding of the market and where we could differ.

The brand

The final Pictfor logo has a modern, techy look and feel. The bold, sans serif typeface reflects a current and friendly feel, while the three circles portray the idea of connection and also represent the three pillars of Pictfor: Internet, Communications and Technology. The shades of blue inspire trust and experience, while the bright green adds a feeling of innovation to the brand.

The website

The website is modern, simple and user friendly. The big bold sans serif shapes the design, combined with circles that make reference to brand and add a playful touch to the layout. Each part of the website was specifically created to match the brand and be different from any other site. Its simplicity, combined with these special features, make the site appealing for both younger and older audiences.
