GAME/VIDEO ART. A SURVEY

  • Martina Cesani
GAME VIDEO/ART. A SURVEY i s the largest retrospective of game-based video-installations ever staged in Italy. Otherwise known as machinima, these works lie at the intersection of videogame, cinema, theatre, and animation. By manipulating images and sounds of the most popular digital games, thirty international artists introduce a new way of making videoart. The video installations are presented in three sections: Record, Glitch and Assemblage. A fourth, Frames, includes individuals, spaces, and situations of the new technological landscape depicted by Miltos Manetas, as to highlight the affinities ( divergences? ) between screen and canvas.
