Gasoline (2015)

BA Thesis Project.
Gasoline is a volume of poetry by Gregory Corso, one of the writers of the Beat Generation: the aim of the project was to make this publication into a “visual book”.
I tried to understand how Corso found the inspiration to write the book: what I discovered is that he starts from what he sees, from reality, and through this immages he investigates his inner self.
Photographs symbolize reality and the cuts in the page symbolize Corso’s intervention through poetry. The poems are not placed into a grid but are put on the page as if they were clippings, to make a connection with the cut-up technique, frequently used by the Beats.
