In my lifetime words have changed and developed meaning through generational difference. Gay is collated through a 3 part creased publication that discusses the underlying generational change of how the word developed into a derogatory meaning. Through this expression, ‘gay’ has been interpreted by a series of self-initiated interviews from each generation and typographically documented into a visual form. Due to the words vast change the publications undertakes 3 different executions. The 1st focuses on it’s initial etymology, 2nd on the open and clear connotations of the word and lastly the 3rd on the dynamic change to a pejorative manner. Therefore, ‘gay’ is a visual documentation of a word that has had a variance of change from it’s first introduction.
