My project rationale was focused on finding beauty in the imperfection that I intrigued by Japanese Wabi-Sabi aesthetic especially about the art of Kintsugi, where cracked and broken pottery is filled with gold as a way to showcase the beauty of its age and damage rather than hiding it. I believe that all beautiful things carry marks and scars, and that makes them treasured and unique items. In the same way, our wounds and imperfections are honest parts of their own story and do not need to be hidden. The materials I chose for this project are production leftovers and imperfect leather which have been rejected to use in manufacturing. I wanted to approach this project in a sustainable way. I created the heel with 3D Printing, and the golden pattern on black mesh with vinyl hit transfer printing.
