GLOBAL EXCLUSIVE RANKIN AND BRIT BOY BAND BUSTED CELEBRATE THE NINETIES

Busted and Rankin throw it all the way back in music video for ‘Nineties’.
From Busted’s upcoming fourth album ‘Half Way There’, comes a nostalgic dive back to the ‘90s in all its uoro, grunge and Gladiators glory. Starring the band members, Matt, Charlie and James, as an array of pop culture icons and directed by Rankin, the music video for ‘Nineties’ is one for those who remember 1999 like it was yesterday.
With added throwbacks to Busted’s first ever music video, each frame is filled with comedic nuggets that’ll have you re-watching, just to make sure you saw it right the rst time.
“This is me getting back to basics with Busted. I met the full band to take some press shots around the Night Driver album back in 2016. The photos were taken to announce they were getting back together and I really got on with them. If I’m honest, I’d kind of missed them rst time round – too busy listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Flaming Lips and Doves – though I always thought their songs were great when I’d heard them. So, it was kind great to meet them properly and get to know them a bit. I loved their energy. The lads are very very charismatic and naturally funny, their songs are ridiculously catchy and they literally do rock and go for it every time. I adore them.
This lm is trying to get back to those amazing Joseph Khan-esque videos of the late 90’s early noughties, where you don’t overanalyse what it’s about or how it’s been made, it’s just fun and makes you feel good, in the same way the song makes you feel good. It’s memorable and you want to watch it again and again to take it all in.
What I loved about doing it was how many of the team in my office were fans of the band and wanted to be in the video. It was at that point I realised the video is for the fans and to really push for that. In my opinion, the best music videos accentuate a song and that’s always what I want to do when making promos, the song is the star – not me or the directing. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t miss the 90’s!” - Rankin
Rankin has also shot the cover for Busted’s ‘Half Way There’ album, which is set to be released on February 8th.
Rankin says:
“This film is trying to get back to those amazing Joseph Khan videos of the late ‘90s / early ‘00s, where you don’t over analyse what it’s about or how it’s been made. It’s just fun and makes you feel good, in the same way the song makes you feel good. It’s memorable and you want to watch it again and again to take it all in.

Busted added, “We have worked with Rankin a few times and knew we would be in the safest hands in the industry. He totally gets us and this video is a true force. We love him!”
Recent weeks have seen Busted soar back into the spotlight as if they’d never been away. First, they announced the release of their eagerly-anticipated “ultimate Busted album” ‘Half Way There’ and confirmed details of next year’s huge UK arena tour. They then played three chaotic shows in a day at the 100 Club – all of which sold-out in two minutes.
