The Stonewall Riots began at an inn. The LGBT liberation movement was founded in the bars, pubs and clubs. Yet today, these venues find themselves threatened by a multitude of different pressures, from redevelopment and rising rents, to restrictive licensing laws and the rise of dating apps. In the past decade, as much as half of London’s LGBTQ venues have been shut down. Take a journey through the gay nightlife of London and Manchester in this documentary and discover how these clubbing scenes are charting their way through a changing world, and why it is essential that we protect them for the future. Filmed & produced by Edward Bains in 2018.
