Good finds all around on Gumtree!

  • Tara Rueanhom

To make a stand against the cost of living crisis and support local communities, Gumtree wanted to challenge the perception of ‘free’ and let people know what quality goods you can find for free on their website.

The event aimed to drive mass awareness around the issue of ‘free’ items on Gumtree and deliver a creative, fun and light-hearted curated space for the local community in East London to experience!

With a bright, colourful and summery concept, Gumtree’s freebie section was brought to life! The one-day pop-up shop gave the passerby the chance to take home something good quality, second-hand and completely free!
Taking inspiration from the listing of items in the garden to the back of the couch finds and kitchen party necessities, I designed and produced a shop with a bespoke check-out till and merchandised it with an array of pre-loved items from bookcases and sideboards to vintage 1960s tables and chairs, gardening goods, decorative homewares, soft furnishings, books and games - all sourced from local charity shops around London and the free section on Gumtree website.
Brand Ambassadors were on hand to guide consumers around the store and take them through Gumtree’s website and freebies section online. Over 600 shoppers came through the door, and not one of them left empty-handed!
