GOODNIGHT - TANGENT EP

A&R for GASS Records 5 track EP by GOODNIGHT Goodnight’s "Tangent" is a collection of five songs that may seem like digressions from their debut album "Versions" but are, in fact, deeper off-shoots of the sonic worlds the band touched upon on the album. The duo (Dan de Lara and Darrell de Lara) approached these songs as if they were creating a score for a short film—in fact, two tracks were created for the feature film "The Five Rules of Success" (directed by Orson Oblowitz) which one half of Goodnight scored. In the hopes of fusing their brand of electronic, new wave, shoegaze and pop with a cinematic/filmic quality, the group collaborated with Steph Shiu. Daniel and Steph recently scored Peter Do SS22 NYFW debut show. Steph provides the only overtly human touch with her voice on the title track "Tangent" and "In My Mind" as she adds a new character and point of view into the Goodnight universe. While "Tangent" steps into a slow burner acid house realm, "Howl" reveals an aggression that could only be calmed by the minimal and bare feel of "In My Mind" and “V Rules" provides a soundtrack to your escape as you drive away into the night. The extended dream dub of “Tangent” bookends the EP like an echo that has returned just in time to the listener.
