Created in 1998 by Blur’s Damon Albarn and comic book artist Jamie Hewlett, Gorillaz are the virtual band that took over the world, fusing electronic music with elements of hip-hop and rock for endlessly listenable records that continue to stand the test of time. Seven studio albums, 11 EPs, a Grammy and Brit Award later, they remain at the forefront of alternative music, collaborating with the most exciting artists from across the globe. To celebrate Gorillaz’ August 2021 release, the Meanwhile EP – created in homage to Black British culture and a cancelled Notting Hill Carnival – we teamed up with Parlophone. Projecting the band and their album artwork onto iconic locations in West London including the Trellick Tower and Ladbroke Grove, it brought the EP’s animated music videos to life in real-time on the streets.
