When our planet suffers, we suffer. This is no longer something that we can ignore. Society choose to keep what is out of sight, out of mind. To our earth we need to be kind. Every choice that we make effects out planet, each and every minute. The fast fashion shopping from overseas, unnecessarily wrapped in single use plastic to save those much-needed pennies. We need to make better choices. Your plastic bottles and your covid tests, do not disappear when you close the bin lid. Next time you drive down to the beach, think about what is touching your feet. You want to relax and enjoy the sun, while listening to the waves having fun. The noise of the waves you so deeply desire will transform and retire, Into waves of plastic that we cannot escape, because we acted. Way. Too. Late. Contemporary consumption. A series of prints inspired by manmade plastics and the oceans natural textures, using photography and mixed media art to create a collection that pushes a strong message, to reduce our plastic consumption. Using skills learnt through master classes, multimedia Avant-Garde inspired samples will be an addition to the collection. Contempory consumption is a project based on teaching people more about what they can do to help the planet. Research into different designers will help inform the outcome of this collection. Photography and digital design will all play a part in the development of the project. Research into plastic consumption and ocean pollution will help inform myself and others of the detrimental effects our choices make to the earth. I will be using photography to capture textures and to explore imagery, while visual research using mixed medias will bring in softer elements of design while refining the collection.
