A look at my graduate collection: All bein’ well, a celebration of my heritage filled with Jamaican cultural references, down to the footwear which was kindly provided by Clarks Originals The collection explores joy, belonging, comfort and nostalgia. Throughout the collection, the style of dress found in the Jamaica reggae and dancehall scenes is combined with everyday details of black British life post-Windrush, such as the phenomena of the Caribbean front room. With many strong female familial figures to look up to, elements of their style were also thoroughly researched to create a new image of black masculinity that questions society's view of black men and the lack of space that this view leaves for vulnerability and openness.
