When we were tasked with launching the new master brands for the Grafton merchant businesses, we were keen to do something which spoke to builders, plumbers and electricians in a way which wasn’t in the traditional ‘lad’ vernacular.

These men and women run their own businesses, they work their own projects, attract their own customers, source their own supplies and they do it all while turning a profit. It really didn’t feel right to talk to them on any level except the true one: that these are skilled, professional, entrepreneurial consumers who expect the very same from their merchant.

Our solution was to not waste their time and get straight to the point: they are in a builders’ merchant because they have a job to do and they are in a Grafton merchant because the staff know exactly how to help them do it.

So let’s get the job done.
