Guerrilla Tango

  • China Yggstrom
Guerrilla Tango is an independent, feature length documentary about tango activism and queer tango in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following the lives of queer tango dancers and activist group "El Tango No Se Clausura" it tracks the pleasures and struggles of the people's dance, as more tango clubs "milongas" are being shut down on seemingly arbitrary grounds. What will happen to cultural diversity, creative evolution and Argentinian identity if the tango of the streets is being suffocated?
The film is being produced and directed by Kaatje Leilani Jones of Leilani films, with assistance on co-direction/cinematography and video editing from me, China Yggström.
The video sample consists of re-edited scenes shot and directed by me, interspersed with a scene from a separate project I have been co-producing, shooting and editing for WISP (Women and trans people in Swedish Performing Arts).
