Hair by Sam McKnight

Hair would be a very dull subject without people like Sam McKnight, who since his first Vogue feature over 40 years ago, has been defining and redefining style. Somerset House thought it was about time somebody put the spotlight on him for a change and gave him a career-spanning exhibition. When they asked us to develop a video installation for the exhibition’s final room, we jumped at the chance. The film, which premiered online over at NOWNESS, delves into Sam’s career using a mix of never-before-seen archive footage of his early work with some famous faces (and hair styles, of course) and interviews with the man himself shot exclusively for the exhibition.
