The old and the new are at the core of my final year of study, and the texture and approach to hand knit runs alongside the more innovative and pattern-based machine knitting I have been doing. Hand/Machine looks at the merging and amalgamation of the traditional with what is considered "modern" knitwear.
By looking at and enhancing and hiding the differences between the traditional and modern, the old and new, the hand and the machine, I have found inspiration in how man made objects tell stories and narratives within the environments they are placed, and developed knitwear that grafts and joins together.
