John Grant’s debut solo album Queen of Denmark was released in 2010. At times tragic, at other times hilarious, it reflects on growing up gay in small town America. This redesigned cover took the crown or tiara of the Queen as its central theme. Made from clay it reflects the fragility of the life depicted in the songs. With a cross on its front it has echoes of the religious background that Grant grew up in. The clay tiara is then seen smashed into a thousand pieces on the back cover. A sense of escape with a subtle backdrop of rainbow colours to suggest a new life of hope.
