Happenstance

  • Claire Orme
At LimeWharf, Happenstance created a series of inter and un-connected performances based around the surrealist parlour game (exquisite corpse) and chance interactions with the audience. Improvised music by Galvanize, other music/installation by Tansy Davies, Helen Papaioannou, Robert Szymanek, Paul Fretwell, Phil Maguire, Laurie Anderson, John Cage and WP of new commission by sound artist Angie Atmadjaja, 'life and death is wearing me out'.
During the performance by Galvanize ensemble, I created live drawings while blindfolded - translating the music into marks. This was projected in real-time next to where I was drawing, exploring how movement is rendered and the blending of human and machine.
