Happy Out

A happy little coffee shop plonked out on a wet and windy island — We were tasked with creating a name, identity, overall look and feel, and interiors concept for the first and only coffee shop out on Bull Island. A popular spot for walkers, swimmers, cyclists, bird-watchers, beach goers and wet dogs, we felt that Happy Out was the perfect name to sum up this little haven. Located in a shipping container out on a very wet and windy peninsula, with a nature reserve on one side and Dublin Bay on the other, it was important that the identity felt warm and welcoming to passers by while also being easily seen from the road. We used the motif of the Irish Hare to give a nod to the inhabitants of the nature reserve and flew 3 flags out front to mark the spot. I was lead designer on this project and was involved in the creation and roll-out of the identity and all print elements. I also created gifs for instagram, cups, t-shirts, sandwich wrapping and even the typographic design for their blackboard menu. It was a great project to work on and a lot of fun to visit.
