HECATE MAGAZINE

  • Xanthe Horner

Hecate Magazine began as a web journal, where I originally had my poem 'After & Before' published. After establishing a rapport with the creator, I was appointed as the art director, with my artwork selected as the cover for both the Birth and Decay anthologies. I was tasked with finding suitable artists to pair with chosen poetry. I really relished this role in finding new professional connections and championing small press. I was also responsible for writing creative writer's call-outs. The call-outs were very specific, for a type of writer whose work was focused on embodiment, the feminine and witchcraft. The magazine was very loved by the purchasers, writers and independent stockists. Unfortunately it is now defunct after the creator, Tahlia Mckinnon, went on to other things.
