Highland Boys

A personal project shot, styled, cast and directed by me. Where boys become men, but as men they are still boys . Highland Boys serves as an admirable glimpse into the high spirited personalities crafted by the landscape of rural Highland Perthshire. With a spontaneous and daring nature, an innate urge for exploration and to live from the land self-sufficiently and sustainably exists within them. The editorial is a story of unity and the freedom found in rural living, away from the pressures of fast-paced urban society, an escapism lived with a remarkable zest for life. Growing up in the Highlands, I always admired the laid-back carpe diem attitude of those around me. Moving to the city, where everyone seemed to be working with years ahead on their mind, I especially felt this contrast as I got caught up in the race to the future. My imagery finds the spirit of the present, seeing the world through a lens helps to see the beauty of that moment.
