The HIX Award is a first step to life beyond University for many young artists. The Award, now in its 5th year, is a professional opportunity designed to give both current students and recent graduates the chance to exhibit in a group show. The Exhibition will be hosted by established contemporary gallery HIX ART in Shoreditch. This show gives us the opportunity to discover and support some fantastic emerging artists, the show will then go under the scrutiny of our 25 esteemed judges, who have previosuly included Tracey Emin, Stephen Webster, Gavin Turk, Dylan Jones, Mark Hix and more…. they will then go on to choose the official winner of The HIX Award 2017.
The Prize
The winner of HIX Award 2017 will receive a £10,000 cash prize to go towards studio costs, the opportunity to design a limited-edition silk scarf print with the bespoke brand Turnbull & Asser, a solo exhibition at HIX ART in 2018 and last but certainly not least a feature in the next issue of HIX magazine! This year’s runner up will receive £1000 worth of Cass art vouchers and our People’s choice winner will be treated to a weekend trip for two at HIX Townhouse in Lyme Regis with a dinner at HIX Oyster & Fish House. This is a chance to build a long-standing relationship with a well-known Shoreditch gallery with the opportunity to be part of a mentorship programme with previous HIX Award winners.
HIX ART
Formally CNB Gallery is located in the basement of Mark Hix's Shoreditch restaurant Tramshed, HIX ART was opened in 2012 as a dynamic space for contemporary artists. HIX ART gives a wide range of artists from the established to the undiscovered, the opportunity to showcase their work through exhibitions in a well-established east London art gallery. The gallery is a celebration of Mark Hix’s love for combining outrageous contemporary art with brilliant British food. Sharing the HIX hunger for innovation and creativity, Sophie Harriott Creative Relationships Manager runs cutting edge exhibitions which change on an 8-weekly basis.
