'HOME'

  • Emily Smith

The feeling of home isn't a place or a building. It's found in the company of certain people who make you really appreciate life. It lies in family. It lies in friends. It can even lie in strangers. It's the feeling of being truly content, hypnotisingly relaxed. It's familiarity, comfort and warmth. It's a moment when you sit back and look at the incredible people around you and realise how lucky you are and how they're a part of you, help shape the person you are and want to be. It's knowing these people will always be in your life and what a reassuring thought that is. Home is laughter, a happy heart, a head on a shoulder, an arm around someone you love, a smile on your face and no wish for greener grass because you already have the greenest. I wanted to try my best to make a piece, or several, to encompass this feeling of home and represent the people that it belongs to. Thank you to the very special people in my life who make me feel home and who was in mind when these pieces and my project progressed. Much love and appreciation - I thought it was about time I showed it. Bronze. Brooches use steel pins. Earrings use sterling silver ear posts.
