HOME at Tate Britain Dec 2021 - Tate Collective

My work 'Home' displayed at Tate Britain for the Tate Collective's open call 'Finding home', selected amongst other amazing young artists! It was on Fri 3rd - Sun 5th, thanks to friends n fam who made it down!! Had the bestest time. Thanks for fam and friends who came to support! :) 'Home' is a representation of my identity as a Londoner. Growing up and navigating South London on buses has made them feel like an extension of 'Home'. The nuances of the word 'home' I feel is captured in the patterns, textures and colours of this specific bus seat fabric, which is why I've created this series of garments and pieces made entirely out of the fabric itself, photographed by me on me, at home. The concept of Home is almost like a sense itself; draping and photographing this sensually familiar piece of cloth around me has brought to life that subtle and often indescribable sense, whilst also paying homage to my youth and my borough of London in a way that is highly personal yet so universal as it's something we can all immediately recognise and relate to.
