I set up my art blog ‘HotUnderTheColour’ as a response to the events of 2020 including the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, the decolonisation of statues and monuments in the UK (notably the destruction of the Edward Colston Statue in Bristol) and cultural shift towards online technologies and platforms in the Pandemic. During this time, I became somewhat disillusioned by my studies of the history of art and I struggled to reconcile its place in a contemporary setting. I found writing this blog to be a productive way to channel my creative energy and love of the arts. I have recently discovered my enjoyment of this and aim to produce new material each week.
