House Style: Five Centuries of Fashion

House Style: Five Centuries of Fashion is Chatsworth’s largest exhibition to date, and opened 25 March 2017.  Hamish Bowles, International Editor-at-Large at American Vogue, curated this landmark show with creative direction and design by Patrick Kinmonth and Antonio Monfreda, and key involvement from Lady Burlington. Woven throughout the rooms one of Britain’s finest stately homes, House Style layered art history, fashion and archival material and gave unprecedented insight into the lives of renowned style icons including the 18th century “Empress of Fashion” Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire; Adele Astaire, the sister and dance partner of Fred Astaire; the Mitford sisters; model Stella Tennant; and John F Kennedy’s sister ‘Kick’ Kennedy.
The exhibition ran from 25 March to 22 October 2017
