Huddersfield Uni | Degree Show Visuals

  • Sarah Richards

Brief: Create a branding system which highlights and puts students work at the forefront of all decisions. Complication: With the course being extremely diverse in output the branding will need to be simplistic and striking in order to be recognisable, while still blending into the background. Solution: Using the existing brand naming of Hud GDA (as requested) I created a simplistic adaptive logo which could be used as a vessel for students work, whilst also being effectively abstracted for branding elements of the show. Outcome: Due to Covid-19 the plans were unable to take fruition, however, the below presented designs were chosen by votes to represent the course. **This was a pitched for brief. If the show had gone forward the logo and accompanying graphics would've been further altered.**

Before the above was chosen to represent the course, I trialed other versions of how the logo mark would work. These were then put to a vote of which one would work best and then developed with feedback.
What was done to get to this point?
Myself and 4 other people on the course (Lewis, Meg, Molly & Ryan) set up a group in order to research and come up with some ideas of how we could best utilise the space we had for our Degree Show, and some initial branding ideas.
The reason for us going our own way was after this initial stage the ideas we pitched to our tutors and after a meeting we were asked to produce our own visualisations - which led to the above choices.
