Hybrid of Body and Sound Exhibition

Hybrid of Body and Sound Exhibition’ attempts to present the different perception of synesthesia by sound, body and vision, in 50 performances and art installations created by 22 artists/groups in Taipei, 2013. As an extended project of what Mixing Membrane International Curation devote to, which is, the concept of Gesamtkunstwerk, we are not just combine the visual art, painting, sculpture and performers in an art project, but try to establish (create?) the dialogism by referring to the concept of Robert Wilson’s ‘Multimedia Theater’ theory.

In 1972, the 5 hours play ‘Einstein on the Beach’ composed by Philip Glass, made use of mathematical sequence to develop a combination between sound, light, character and movement. When comes to the Digital Era, the uses of multi-media elevates art into the next level, which closes up the Utopia of Gesamtkunstwerk than what we have before.
