I am not a petrolhead

  • Alec Leggat

I don't drive, I don't own a car and I am not a petrolhead. However, I am fascinated by the way older cars spark memories of family holidays and dads tinkering under the bonnet all weekend. People become attached to cars in the way they do their clothes. Some cars are iconic, and can become associated with popular TV programmes, hooking the viewer into the stage of their life when they watched that particular series. Or, since they are mostly mass produced products, when they owned their own Mini Cooper or Ford Mustang.
