The Gallery view
The exhibition by LADIES DRAWING CLÜB is an opportunity to announce the emerging female artists I had a chance to detect. And this time it was even more than an exhibition. As an international project, CLÜB try our best to emphasise the idea of uniting people, art, projects, erasing all possible restrictions, and interacting with projects and persons that cause our delight and interest.

This exhibition was created as a collaboration and dialogue between the curator, artist and viewer. I invited the artists to reflect on their own obsession (for creativity), on that inner strength, the idea that create their concepts and fill their works. Artists who work with the technique of drawing in traditional and experimental styles are invited to reflect on this topic. I only observe from the outside how the works are created. The viewer had the opportunity not only come to exhibition and view artworks, but also to purchase any of the them. It is an important condition for a contemporary artist to transfer the work through the exhibition to the buyer. And for me as a curator, the idea to bring art out of the power of the meaning of the word “museum” into a space where the viewer can easily reflect on art not only as a wonderful power, but also as what he can acquire and what will subsequently possess.

Artists discover they ‘obsessions’ that makes them create. Obsession, which is the inner language, connecting teller with the viewer. The ideas in artists works are very strong and reflective of their inner feelings, which are consonant with many others. Paula tells her story of Eros, where she develops her understanding of sexuality within her space. Celina broadcasts her childhood memories, which are the strongest motives for her life and work today. Gabrielle turns the sensation of sexuality upside down by creating ironic experimental drawings around her fantasy. Alessandra shares unique and authentic messages from her family, creating paintings around her love for loved ones.

“Drawing is a great school of legibility and truth. In it you find yourself closest to nature, you master the secrets of geometry, painting does not always allow this, imagination is more involved in it, directing is embodied, a performance is played out. Drawing obliges to some kind of abstraction, the speech here is about what is hidden behind the appearance, face and body, and you so catch the light emanating from them. " - Balthasar Kłossowski de Rola (Balthus)

“Obsession is what it comes down to. It is difficult to think without obsession, and it is impossible to create something without a foundation that is rigorous, incontrovertible, and, in fact, to some degree repetitive. Repetition is the ritual of obsession. Repetition is a way to jumpstart the indecision of beginning. To persevere and to begin over and over again is to continue the obsession with work. Work comes out of work. In order to work you must already be working.”
