Sluggish Magazine X LURK Styling Our first shoot for Sluggish Magazine: The Isolation Issue. Inspired by the character of Esther Greenwood from Sylvia Plath’s novel, The Bell Jar. The novel explores a chapter where Esther attempts suicide by drowning. As the coronavirus pandemic has seen an impact on mental health, “the effects of the pandemic are being disproportionately felt by the most vulnerable people in society and are exacerbating factors we know are related to suicide”. (Samaritans.org) This shoot highlights the intense feeling of isolation and the impact it can have on personal well-being. However, an emphasis is placed on nature and water, to invoke a feeling of solace and serenity and finding comfort in the outdoors during difficult times.
