I was approached by Soho House & Co to create a colourful illustrated map of a Lisbon neighbourhood for their members print publication ‘House Notes’, available to their 80,000 strong global creative community. The article describes a full and varied day out in Lisbon. From the most delicious cafes, to yoga, boutique shopping and a just-launched and hard to find restaurant, all of which were drawn and plotted on my map, illuminating the beauty and vibrancy of this historic city. This is the first piece I have created entirely on the iPad, finding I can work in almost exactly the same way as my hand-painted maps, and really enjoying the level of detail I can achieve and playing with textures and colour. I was asked to include the purple jacaranda trees, and paired with the terracotta rooftops this informed my bright pastel and earthy colour palette. From start to finish this project took me five days and is now available in May’s edition of House Notes across Europe and North America.
