The illustration designs you will see here are the designs for a personal project of my own. The designs are part of a clothing line brand I have created that will be released by the end of the year. The designs were made on Adobe Illustrator, an application I used most in my graphic design work. There are a couple of different inspirations behind these designs. The main being 80/90’s colour schemes, with a retro choice of colours, bold, playful and eye catching which is what attracts me to them. The designs themselves are a slight personal reflection on focusing on what could be and always looking forward with the help of elements from the past. Each design is linked to the last in some way that has created a kind of mini series. The first design is ‘Babe’, a 80s inspired mobile phone design, featuring the brand name. This design incorporated much more colour play that is bold but not too loud, complimenting each other, to point out each component whilst seeing it as one image. Each shape, line and object are all individually made, for example not one button on the phone is the same. ‘Parallel universe’ is my second design using only two colours this time round. Using a purple tone as the base shade and yellow for the detail to bring out the individual detail a little more clearly. This is where you begin to see how one design spills over into the next design. In particular the main feature in ‘Babe’: the phone, is subtly included in this design, by the left hand side of the pool. The brand logo also being included. The challenge in this design was perspective and perception of depth to create this wide angle snapshot. Here, again each part has been individually made in illustrator and make up the entire image. The last design tested my ability to create a structure from a different perspective, from above. A city revealing another world. The crack in the middle of the design reveals the ‘parallel universe’ from the previous design.
