"In Limbo" (2023)

a self-portrait 122x76cm acrylic/spray paint/oil pastel on canvas the title 'in limbo' is reflective of my current state of uncertainty following graduating from university where I try to work out what I want to do with my life... I have moved back home to my childhood bedroom where I find myself infantilised & out of place. I've been forced to spend a lot more time with my own thoughts without much distraction The initial self portrait idea was going to be a 'regal portrait' of sorts...in a sort of mocking way...given the reference image is a self-timer pic of myself on a stool in shitty painting clothes. In the end result I've blown up the size of my fist and I'm gripping it tightly I have a spiky glow shape around my head I am having my "eureka!" moment...!
