In Past Pupils and Smiles by Solange Knowles

Grammy award winning singer, songwriter, and visual artist, Solange Knowles, closed the 58th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale de Venezia with In Past Pupils and Smiles, a self-composed and directed performance. Commissioned as part of “Meetings on Art,” the Biennale’s official public programme curated by Ralph Rugoff, Artistic Director of the Biennale Arte 2019 and Aaron Cezar, Director of Delfina Foundation, at the 58th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, In Past Pupils and Smiles, an original performance piece, explored themes of safety, protection and identity.
