IN REALITY - MONSTERS of OTTOMAN

Photoshop CS6 | Wacom Intıous 5 Touch. Monsters of Ottoman series illustrated by Murat Tahan on photographs. I would like to show you what I see when I look at Istanbul. I see spirits, monsters, animals living with us. Why I named the project like "Monsters of Ottoman"? I did not want to limit myself with only Istanbul. It gives me more space to tell my stories. I can use them by time, in whole Anatolia, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Balkans. At the first place, It started with Istanbul idea, however, in next days we all see the other cities. All photographs are taken in Istanbul which served as the capital of three empires: the Roman and Byzantine (330–1204 and 1261–1453), the Latin (1204–1261), and the Ottoman (1453–1922) empires. It was instrumental in the advancement of Christianity during Roman and Byzantine times before the Ottomans conquered the city in 1453 and transformed it into an Islamic stronghold and the seat of the last caliphate. octopus, spirits,
